The Pedigree: Inspired by the archives of our 135 Thayer Street storefront in Providence, the "135 Thayer" is a direct restoration of the neckwear that defined the Brown University silhouette of the mid-1950s. While others chased the wide, flashy "bold look" of the era, Langrock remained the steady hand of the Ivy League tradition.

The Fabric: Originally woven specifically for Langrock in Macclesfield, England, our Heavy-Gauge Silk Repp features a pronounced "rib" texture and a substantial "hand" that holds a perfect, dimpled four-in-hand knot. The colors—Peat Moss, Dark Burgundy, and Deep Navy—are "muddy" tones, designed to pair effortlessly with the earthy textures of a Harris Tweed or a Grey Flannel sack suit.

The Construction:

  • The "Natural" Fold: A traditional 3-fold construction that provides a slim, elegant profile without the bulk of modern mass-produced neckwear.

  • Un-Tipped & Hand-Rolled: In the ultimate gesture of craftsmanship, the 135 Thayer is un-tipped. The edges are meticulously hand-rolled, exposing the raw beauty of the silk’s reverse side.

  • Dimensions: A classic 3.25" width—the "Golden Ratio" of the 1950s Ivy era.

  • Made in Los Angeles: Hand-cut and sewn in our specialized boutique workshop in Southern California.

The Legacy: An investment in tradition. Like the building it's named after, this tie is built to endure, gaining character with every knot and every decade.
